Genetic variation

Genetic or hereditary factors have been found to be extremely influential in the medical history of ADHD. It is often the case that a parent or close relative will have also been diagnosed with the condition. Additionally, twin and genetic studies show several genes are likely to be involved in the development of the disorder.

However thus far, research has been inconsistent and controversial as to the exact genes that can contribute to the diagnosis of ADHD.
