Social anxiety disorder


Social phobia also known as social anxiety disorder is another type of anxiety disorder marked by intense feelings of extreme anxiety and overpowering feelings self-consciousness in a particular everyday social situations.







Social phobia can arise either as a result of a particular social situation such as eating in front of others or speaking in groups of people or in more severe cases, a patient may experience symptoms of Social Phobia at any time when they are around a number of other people. People who suffer from social phobia report to feeling continuous and intense fear that they are being closely watched or judged by other people and subsequent experience feelings and emotional symptoms such as extreme embarrassment or humiliated by their own behaviour.

It is often the case that the fear of social occasions or social interaction will inhibit an individual from attending school, work and social occasions therefore leaving them feeling isolated and embarrassed.
