Mindfulness can help a patient understand emotions that may arise as a result of being diagnosed or coping with their condition. In some cases mindfulness has also been shown to actually impact the physical symptoms of a chronic physical illness such as lowering blood pressure and blood sugar levels which makes coping and self-treatment for a diabetic less stressful and can enhance quality of life.
