Christmas inflation is causing unprecedented stress

It has been announces that approximately a third of British nationals are having to cover the cost of Christmas using personal loans and lends from family and friends.

The survey conducted by Unison, Britain’s biggest union has called upon the coalition government to adapt policies to help ease the pressure and stress that the inflated cost of Christmas has on families.

It was reported that the Unison leader argued that the government should be putting efforts into “stimulating the economy and encouraging consumer confidence, instead of dishing up more misery over Christmas.”

The survey reported that consumers are stressed over the stability of their jobs, the increased cost of amenities such as fuel and food is causing more financial strain so the fact that Christmas is further adding to stress and financial anxiety, it is argued that it is the government’s role to ease the pressure.

It could be that adopting appropriate stress management techniques could also reduce the negative effect of stress and anxiety on the body. Mindfulness meditation, tai chi and yoga have all been found to help relax and keep stress levels under control.
