Meditation has been shown to greatly help with depression, stress, anxiety, pain management, diet control and a host of mental health illnesses. A mental health charity report findings suggest using mindfulness meditation would significantly reduce the £7.5 billion a year UK loses as a result of depression.
Even the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) issued guidance after studies suggested that Mindfulness could halve the rate of depression relapse. In the UK, 10% of the population is affected by clinical depression, with 50% experiencing it more than once.
Mindfulness meditation is learning to be in the present moment, non-judgementally and with an open accepting attitude. Mindfulness can be learned in a number of ways, using the breath or sound as the anchors to be present.
Mindfulness meditation has a long history with over 2500 years of “clinical history and practice”.
The average cost for mindfulness based therapy (MBCT) is £300 for a two hour session over a period of eight weeks.
Stressmanagement.co.uk provides free audio guidance for mindful meditation. Stress Management.co.uk has been offering a range of meditation based programmes since 1996 including, Mindfulness Based Stress Management, Mindfulness Based Anxiety Management, Mindfulness Based Anger Management and Mindfulness Based Pain Management.
