5 simple steps to stress relief, calmness and well being
Step 1: Sit down with your feet flat on the ground, ensure your spine is straight, relax your shoulders and rest the palms of your hands on your thighs.
Step 2: Keeping your head still with your eyes open look up to the ceiling, as high as is comfortable.
Step 3: Now gently close your eyes trying to maintain the feeling of looking up.
Step 4: This step is repeated three times. Take a deep breath in, hold it for a moment or two, and as your allow the breath out, say to yourself mentally, RELAX NOW as the breath flows out, follow it all the way out. Repeat this step twice more.
Step 5: Bring your focus to your nostrils and simply “watch” the breath as it breathes by itself, moving in and moving out of your body.
With every breath out, count slowly down from 5-4-3-2-1. Once you have reached the number one you will feel completely relaxed, you mind will be calm and at peace. Enjoy this space for as long as you would like.
Step 6: When you feel ready slowly count back up from 1-2-3-4-5 and as you open your eyes you will feel grounded and ready to continue with your day with a new sense of clarity, alertness and precision.
Use this technique whenever you feel your emotions, stress levels and external pressures are dictating your actions and behaviour.
