Britain is set to expect an epidemic of depression and anxiety just as the population is getting to breaking point thanks to the “recession” (more likely just the start of a full blown depression).
The extend of mental illness affecting the UK population is frightening, with 25%, or one in four UK adults suffering from mental illness during some time in their lives, more than 10% of the UK population already failing to receive adequate support for mental illness and with “millions at risk of sinking into depression and despair” according to the Young Foundation’s report findings.
Although Britain may boast to be a wealthy country, but this hides to true face of a disintegrating and mentally ill society with increasing levels of loneliness amongst those most vulnerable, the elderly, almost a million will be spending their Christmas alone, uncontrollable alcohol abuse amongst the young, increasing depression amongst children as young as five!.
The University of Granada has published results from a study focusing on finding a solution for students and teachers suffering from high levels of anxiety and depression. The results prove that Mindfulness reduces anxiety, in “both the girls with chronic concern and the teachers improved their subjective rates of anxiety, depression, concern, complaints about health and emotional regulation. They also enhanced cardiac, muscular and respiratory markers”
