PTSD and Panic Attacks

Symptoms of PTSD – Panic Attacks

People who have experienced stressful or traumatic events or have been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder are known to be at a higher risk of developing other psychiatric disorders including depression, anxiety and substance abuse disorders.

People who experiance symptoms of PTSD are also at a higher risk of experiencing panic attacks or suffering from panic disorder as there are many common features between a diagnosis of PTSD and Panic Disorder.

It may be the case that as a person plays over the series of events related to the trauma, the fearfulness causes physical sensations to arise again and causes a panic response throughout the body including hyperventilation (over breathing), shaking, chest paint and palpitations.
